Relocation Information

As of December, we do not anticipate that students will have to make up these missed days. Keller ISD’s instructional calendar has additional minutes built in to account for a few inclement weather days each year, and the District plans to file an emergency waiver with the Texas Education Agency to address additional days missed. 

Chisholm Trail has the capacity to meet the instructional needs of Fossil Hill students. Some of the learning spaces – in particular those for fine arts and athletics – were not designed for a middle school curriculum, but we will be utilizing other space in the building to meet the needs of our students and staff. Once we have approval for use of the FHMS gym and track/field areas, we will explore the possibility of resuming use of those spaces. 

Individual student grades will not be impacted by this relocation.  

Yes, CTI classrooms have been equipped with the technology teachers will need for instruction. 

Yes, Keller ISD Transportation will be adding a special bus route for students who typically walk to and/or from school each day. These students can continue to walk to FHMS each day at 8 a.m. and board a bus that will take them to CTI. A bus will return students to the same location at FHMS at approximately 4:20 p.m. each day. Parents of student-walkers who wish to take advantage of this bus route can contact the Keller ISD Transportation Department at 817-744-1300 to sign up for the route. Be sure to have your student’s name and ID number ready to provide to KISD Transportation. 

All existing bus routes will remain the same, but will travel to and from CTI.  

To minimize disruptions to both schools’ schedules, FHMS will maintain its 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. schedule and ELC South will maintain its 8:10 a.m.-3:40 p.m. schedule. ELC South families have been notified about this relocation. FHMS will release information soon about the drop-off and pick-up procedures at CTI.  

In order to give FHMS teachers and staff as much time as possible to prepare their instructional spaces, Wednesday, December 11, will be the first time that students will be allowed into the building. We will have additional staff on hand and increased signage to point students in the right direction. Our upcoming parent newsletter will include additional information.  

Students’ schedules and the campus bell schedule will remain the same. 

Fine Arts classes will continue to meet on their normal schedule. Adjustments will be made to address previously planned performances. More information will be provided to those groups as those details are finalized. 

Athletics and PE classes will continue to meet. We are working on making temporary accommodations considering the difference in facilities. The gym and locker rooms at FHMS may not be impacted by the work taking place on the building, so we are looking into potentially utilizing those facilities for athletics after Winter Break. More details will be provided soon. 

Coaches will designate times to retrieve locker room contents. More information will be shared soon.

Keller ISD’s Athletics Department has contacted UIL for guidance. We will be addressing UIL eligibility grade check issues on a case-by-case basis once we receive that guidance and will work with any students impacted. 

We are hoping to resume the majority of our extracurricular activities and tutorials at the CTI campus, depending on space availability. More details will be provided soon to those respective groups. Our goal is to continue providing all of the same student opportunities that we have been.

We are working to reschedule the Fossil Hill Middle School Spelling Bee.  

Parents should be getting emails and text messages (if they opted in during annual registration or enrollment). For more urgent communications, parents may also receive a phone call. If you do not believe you are getting these messages, please contact our offices at 817-744-3050.  
 

There will be no impact to individual student attendance or absences due to the instructional days missed.
